Approximately once a week, Best Friends would send an email to clients in their database. This could be a targeted email, such as one for customers who had used Doggy Day Camp in the past, or one sent to the entire database of several hundred thousand customers.
When the marketing team had developed an email calendar to follow, it became part of my schedule to ensure an email was prepared and sent out on time. I would first develop the theme of the email. If an email had to be prepared for a holiday boarding reminder, I would develop the message, find an appropriate image, create the graphic in photoshop, and prepare the HTML code approximately 2 weeks prior to the holiday. I was responsible for uploading the appropriate content to the Best Friends servers and letting the IT department know it was ready to send. I was also responsible for dictating who the email would go to and what parameters should be set to ensure it would reach everyone it should while excluding those it did not apply to.
The style of the emails changed several times over my time at Best Friends beginning with a large banner with the logo which I transformed into the title space. I also added the footer with the URL and main social media pages to ensure a reminder was there for customers of Best Friends’ online presence.
In addition, when an offer was sent to customers via email, I was responsible for developing a code related to the offer and ensuring this was communicated to the person who would enter it into the KMS system – Best Friend Pet Care’s internal database.
